The Silver Hog

Tsenre's eyes shot open. "I've gone blind!" he yelled, thrashing about face down in the pillow. Badger, awoken and startled by the old man, jumped from his blanket nest and scampered underneath the bed. Tserne, having vanquished the pillow in a flurry of blows, came to grips with his newly found consciousness and took a look around. After a moment of embarrassed silence, Badger re-emerged and waited by the side of the bed, looking up at Tserne.

"Where are we, badger?"
"Master, we're in a room at the inn we stopped at. I rented us a room after you, uh, had too many ales."
Tserne looked about and struggled to recall the previous night. Drawing a blank, he returned his attention to Badger.
"Aye, I suppose even a mighty mage like me can only drink so much."
"Yes Master." Badger made a mental note to keep the old man away from liquor. Or perhaps just anything flammable. "You should know that a young lady helped you up here. I told her we'd meet with her later to properly thank her."
"A young lass you say?" Tserne's eyes glinted. "Pretty, was she?"
"Master, she looked to be about fourteen." Badger said flatly.
Tserne's shoulders sagged. "Oh, well, aye, we be thankin' her then."
"Don't forget the room key, master. We don't want to cause problems with the establishment."
"Badger, I be a great and powerful mage. I won't be forgettin' the room key!"
Tserne looked around, and spotted the key on the ground by the door. He pocketed the key.
"Well, badger, where be ye lass?"
"She mentioned that she would be at the plaza, so we should go there. You should also consider buying a change of clothes master, your clothes are filthy."
"Badger, how many times I be tellin' ye I'm a mage! I can just magic up some new clothes!"
Badger, having spent enough time with Tsenre to know exactly how this would turn out, quickly stopped Tsenre from reaching for his spellbook by launching himself at the old man and latching onto his robes.
"Agh! What ye be doin' badger?!" Tsenre roared, spinning around in an attempt to get the mammal off his clothing.
"Master, don't cast any more spells! We can't risk damaging this inn room, we don't have any more money!"
Tserne stopped spinning, and looked down at the badger, who dropped off his robes.
"I be havin' a full pouch of silver, badger."
"The silver was used for this room, master."
Tserne stared at the badger, then patted himself for the pouch.
"Badger, ye be spendin' me money! What kind of slave are you?!" Tserne yelled, searching his robes frantically.
"Master, calm down! We need to go to the plaza!"

Tserne stomped out of the room, with badger tailing behind him.

(( Tserne is out in the hallway after having spent the last few minutes yelling loudly. Badger is with him. ))

Ginine walked back in, hoping to have a place for the night left. The place was pretty much empty by now, but she did notice someone sitting. "Excuse me sir," she called to him, beginning to get closer to him, "Can you help me?" She didn't notice the badger from before yet.

Rock is awakened by Tserne's yelling. then he noticed a girl about his age addressing him. "Huh... you talkin' t' me, miss?" he asks, blinking.

"Well, yes... I was," she smiled to Rock. Ginine heard other voices and tried to peek up above the stairs. She couldn't quite see, so she waited for whoever it was to come down. Then turning back to Rock, she asked once more, "Can you help me?"

Tserne and Badger descended from the stairs into the main room.

"Don't forget to return the room key, master."
"Will ye stop badgerin' me!?" Tserne snapped.
Badger sighed, and directed his attention elsewhere.
The barman sidled up to the bar. "Hey, it's old twoales! How you been, twoales? You left your daggers here earlier."
"Wot? Me daggers! I almost be forgetting!"
Tsenre handed back the room key, and placed the daggers back into the folds of the robe. The barman again vanished into the backroom.
Badger looked around the room. He saw a large man sitting down, and was instinctively wary of him.
Badger also saw the girl from last night was talking to the large man.
"Master, it's the lady from last night!"
"Who? Wot?"
"The one who helped you, master."
"Aye, is it? I be thankin' her then?"
Badger was unsure as to whether or not this was a rhetorical question. Reflecting that the old man likely couldn't even pronounce rhetorical, he nodded in agreement.
"Aye then! Off I go!"

Tserne waltzed over to the pair, and bowed deeply, causing his hat to fall off.
"I be thankin' ye lass" Tserne said, completely oblivious to the large man. "For helpin' an old man in his time of need! If ye ever be needin' a magical hand, ye can always call on..." Tsenre paused. While the name Tsenre sounded fine in his head, he didn't really think about how you were supposed to actually pronounce it. He grabbed at his hat.
"...ye goblinslayer!" Tsenre proudly proclaimed, jamming his pointy hat back on his head.

Ginine's attention was taken from Rock as the two came up to her. The odd mage she helped before struck her as, well, odd. There wasn't much more of a word for it. "Don't mention it sir. And... well, I will certainly remeber to call on your goblinslayer," she smiled and returned his bow with a curtsy.

Rock stands and blinks at the strange old man. "Well I've seen a lotta things in my life. Ain't never seen a talkin' badger though." he says, blinking. He glances at Ginnie. "I can help ya, if ya need help."

Ginine smiled brightly at Rock. "Thank you sir... I was just looking for a place to stay for now," she said to him.

Rock shrugs. "Well... I was gonna rent a room but I fell asleep out here. I s'pose I could rent one with you." he says, smiling. "If ya want, that is."

She nodded lightly, "That would be wonderful." Then realizing she didn't even know his name, she stammered, "Excuse me... I'm so rude. My name is Ginine." Then she held out her hand for him to shake.

Rock smiles. "Where I come from, we hug!" he says, throwing his arms around Ginnie in a great big bearhug. "I'm Rock. Nice to meetcha."

His hug was a bit tighter than expected. Good thing he was a cutie, or else there would be an issue. She did the only thing she could think to do and shift her arms a little to share in the hug. "Nice to meet you as well Rock," she laughed softly.

Rock pulls away, smiling. "Let's go get that room, shall we, little lady?"

She blushed and nodded. "I suppose we should then," Ginine grinned. "So... what brings you to Sacriana?" she tried to make conversation.

"I been here for a while." he says, smiling and renting a room for the two of them. "Nothing of huge interest here, but I like it."

"Oh that so?" replied. "I don't quite know how long I'll be staying here. I only came to see a friend and will be catching up with her a bit," Ginine explained beginning to walk towards the room he had just rented.

He smiles and accompanies her. "Well, sounds like a mighty fine plan to me." he says, entering the room with her.

She opened the door and a thought shot into her mind upon scanning the room. 'One bed?!' Ginine let out a small gasp. "Uh... where will I be sleeping?" she asked.

"I.. I'll take the floor." he offers, blushing. ((You can reply on msn. X3))

Tsenre returned to Badger with a triumphant grin on his face.
"I done it! She be thanked like she never been thanked before!"
"Well done, master. I think we should go to the plaza now."
"Aye? Well, off we go then!"
Tsenre, with a newly found spring in his step, exited the inn. Badger trailed after him.

((Sorry to say, but I have a feeling Rock will thank her like she's never been thanked before. XD ))
